Type RI resistance to halofantrine in West Africa.

A case of recrudescent falciparum malaria after halofantrine treatment is described. The patient contracted Plasmodium falciparum in Ivory Coast and was treated with halofantrine. Plasma levels of halofantrine and its metabolite were adequate.
