Congenital ranula cysts are rare, benign cysts that arise from the obstruction or rupture of the sublingual gland ducts in the oral cavity of newborns. Here, we present a case of a congenital ranula cyst in a newborn, highlighting the clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management of this rare condition. The neonate presented with a smooth, painless, and non-tender mass in the floor of the mouth, which was identified as a sublingual cyst via ultrasonography.

- The study aimed to compare patients with pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) found through "extended contact screening" (ECS) to those found via routine passive case finding (PCF).
- In a cross-sectional analysis from 2013-2015, 38% of the 12,114 TB patients were identified via ECS, with a significantly higher proportion (88%) having bacteriological confirmation compared to 50.3% in PCF.
- ECS was particularly effective at identifying more male and child patients, suggesting that these groups often go unnoticed in routine TB control methods.
Introduction: Tuberculosis in children may be difficult to diagnose and is often not reported to routine surveillance systems. Understanding and addressing the tuberculosis (TB) case detection and reporting gaps strengthens national routine TB surveillance systems.
