Introduction: The prevalence of myopia has increased significantly in recent years including an earlier onset of myopia development on the pediatric population. The main objective of the study is to compare CUVAF (Conjunctival Ultraviolet Autofluorescence) in children with and without myopia to validate its usefulness as an outdoor protective biomarker.

Methods: A case-control observational study was conducted in a child cohort from subjects that attended to the Ophthalmology Department of Clínica Universidad de Navarra for an ophthalmological examination.

Background Aims: Biliary atresia (BA) entails an inflammatory sclerosing lesion of the biliary tree, with prominent fibrosis in infancy. Previous studies revealed neutrophil-activating IL-8 and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) positively correlated with bilirubin and risk of liver transplant. Obesity is a disorder of multifactorial origin in which both genetic and environmental factors intervene. Currently, numerous gene variants related to the control of intake and the mechanism of action of leptin in the central nervous system through the melanocortin pathway have been described. The accessibility to molecular studies through next-generation sequencing panels that include dozens of genes related to this condition shows that the incidence is much higher than previously reported.

The presence of antibiotics in seafood for human consumption may pose a risk for consumers. Furthermore, some marine organisms, such as mussels, can result in appropriate bioindicators of marine contamination. In this work, a multiresidue analytical methodology suitable for the determination of antibiotics and metabolites in mussels is proposed.
