Ignition of the lubricating fluid in a mechanical system is a highly undesirable and unsafe condition that can arise from the elevated temperatures and pressures to which the lubricant is subjected. It is therefore important to understand the fundamental chemistry behind its ignition to predict and prevent this condition. Lubricating oils, particularly those with a mineral oil base, are very complex mixtures of thousands of hydrocarbons.

Composite Hyaluronic Acid Gas-Entrapping Materials to Promote Wound Healing.

Tissue repair is often impaired in pathological states, highlighting the need for innovative wound-healing technologies. This study introduces composite hyaluronic acid gas-entrapping materials (GEMs) delivering carbon monoxide (CO) to promote wound healing in pigs. These composite materials facilitate burst release followed by sustained release of CO over 48 h.

Possible scenarios for the spread of mpox outside the endemic focus in Africa.

The recent expansion of mpox in Africa is characterized by a dramatic increase in zoonotic transmission (clade Ia) and the emergence of a new clade Ib that is transmitted from human-to-human (H2H) by close contact. Clade Ia does not pose a threat in areas without zoonotic reservoir. But clade Ib may spread widely, as did the clade IIb that since 2022 has spread globally among MSM.

Evaluation of Glenohumeral Joint Kinematics Following the Latarjet and Eden-Hybinette Procedures a Dynamic Radiostereometric Cadaver Study.

Anterior shoulder instability with glenoid bone lesion can be treated with the Eden-Hybinette procedure utilizing a tricortical iliac crest bone graft or the Latarjet procedure. This study aimed to evaluate the glenohumeral joint (GHJ) kinematics throughout an external shoulder rotation following the Eden-Hybinette and Latarjet procedures. Nine human specimens were examined with dynamic radiostereometry during a GHJ external rotation with anteriorly directed loads from 0 to 30 N.

Pregnancy-Related Mortality Due to Cardiovascular Conditions: Maternal Mortality Review Committees in 32 U.S. States, 2017 to 2019.

Background: Cardiomyopathy (CM) and other cardiovascular conditions (OCVs) are among the most frequent causes of pregnancy-related death in the United States.

Objectives: The purpose of this paper was to report demographic and clinical characteristics, preventability, contributing factors, and Maternal Mortality Review Committee (MMRC) recommendations among pregnancy-related deaths with underlying causes of CM, OCVs, and the 2 combined (cardiovascular conditions, CV).

Methods: We analyzed pregnancy-related death data from MMRCs in 32 states, occurring during 2017 to 2019, with MMRC-determined underlying causes of CVs.
