Usefulness of basic renal function tests in the management of hydronephrosis.

Objective: Nowadays, the algorithms for the study of hydronephrosis in children include voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG) and diuretic renogram (DR) in all patients. Both are invasive, distressing, and associated with radiation risk. However, basic renal function tests (bRFTs) are not included.

Laparoscopic Extravesical Reimplantation in Children with Primary Obstructive Megaureter.

Conservative management of primary obstructive megaureter (POM) appears as the best option in patients with adequate ureteral drainage. Nevertheless, surgical intervention is indicated in cases of recurrent urinary tract Infections (UTIs), deterioration of split renal function, and significant obstruction. The gold standard includes: Ureteral reimplantation with or without tapering by open approach.

Lower esophageal banding in extremely low birth weight infants with esophageal atresia and tracheoesophageal fistula is a life saving practice followed by a successful delayed primary thoracoscopy reconstruction.

In extremely low birth weight (ELBW) infants, i.e. <1000g, with esophageal atresia (EA) and tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF), surgical treatment is a real challenge.

[Laparoscopic extravesical ureteral reimplantation following Lich-Gregoire technique. Medium-term prospective study].

Objectives: To evaluate our results of Laparoscopic extravesical ureteral reimplantation according to Lich-Gregoire technique in the of vesicoureteral reflux treatment.

Material And Methods: Between August 2007 and January 2013, 108 renal units in 80 patients were treated. There were 23 patients with double renal system; in 5 cases were associated with obstruction, and 3 with completely impaired function of the upper pole and ipsilateral ureterocele presence.
