Background: Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is a novel biomarker studied in several autoimmune diseases including inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) in adults, but poorly characterized in pediatric IBD (pIBD). We aimed to primarily investigate the relationship between NLR and pIBD endoscopic disease severity. We also examined whether NLR predicted hospitalization, surgery, and therapy response by 52 weeks.

Purpose: Retrospective study to review scleral lens outcomes in the pediatric population over a 21-year period, at a single clinical center.

Results: A total of 209 pediatric eyes (108 males and 101 females), distributed between 97 right and 112 left eyes, of which 147 eyes had ocular surface disease and 62 eyes had irregular cornea/refractive conditions, were treated with scleral lenses over a 21-year period. The mean age at the time of treatment initiation was 10.

Crohn's Disease (CD) can affect any part of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, including the upper GI tract (UGIT). However, the definitions and classifications of upper GI CD (UGICD) vary. We conducted a scoping review to explore how UGIT and UGICD are defined and to assess the heterogeneity of these definitions in published CD guidelines, aiming to inform future initiatives for harmonizing definitions.
