Pharmacological inhibition of ENT1 enhances the impact of specific dietary fats on energy metabolism gene expression.

Medium chain fatty acids are commonly consumed as part of diets for endurance sports and as medical treatment in ketogenic diets where these diets regulate energy metabolism and increase adenosine levels. However, the role of the equilibrative nucleoside transporter 1 (ENT1), which is responsible for adenosine transport across membranes in this process, is not well understood. Here, we investigate ENT1 activity in controlling the effects of two dietary medium chain fatty acids (decanoic and octanoic acid), employing the tractable model system We show that genetic ablation of three ENT1 orthologues unexpectedly improves cell proliferation specifically following decanoic acid treatment.

The patient's perspective on the burden of psoriasis: findings based on the ROCQ, an online survey.

Psoriasis is a common chronic skin disease, with well-characterised impact on quality-of life, however, no information is available on the lifetime impact of psoriasis on patients' lives. This descriptive cross-sectional web-based survey of patients with psoriasis, recruited from an online patient community, was conducted in France in 2021. Established questionnaires (Major Life-Changing Decision Profile-MLCDP, Dermatology Life Quality Index-DLQI, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale [HADS]), CAGE and BRIEF-COPE) were administered together with specially created questions.

The Burden of Cold Agglutinin Disease on Patients' Daily Life: Web-Based Cross-sectional Survey of 50 American Patients.

Background: Cold agglutinin disease (CAD) is a rare disorder, affecting 15% of patients with autoimmune hemolytic anemia. Few studies have assessed CAD symptoms and their impact on daily life, but these studies did not address the patients' perspectives.

Objective: The aims of this study were to increase the knowledge about CAD through a patient-centric survey and to gain a better understanding of the burden of this disease.

Patients with Severe Uncontrolled Asthma: Perception of Asthma Control and its Management.

Introduction: The aim of our observational study was to understand how patients with uncontrolled severe asthma perceive asthma control, and to assess their views on the role of healthcare professionals (HCPs) and other stakeholders in asthma management.

Methods: In total, 200 patients with uncontrolled, severe asthma living in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK, or the USA registered on the Carenity asthma community responded to a patient survey.

Results: While 62% of respondents indicated they knew a lot about asthma, they were not entirely satisfied with its control.
