Pre-diagnostic 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels and subsite-specific colorectal cancer risk: a nested case-control study from the Norwegian Women and Cancer Study (NOWAC).

Colorectal cancer (CRC), the third most common cancer globally, causes over 900 000 deaths annually. Although vitamin D is observed to have potential anti-carcinogenic properties, research findings on its preventable effect against CRC remain inconclusive. Notably, different subsites within the colon and rectum may be associated with distinct risk factors.

Introduction: Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes are both prognostic and predictive biomarkers for immunotherapy response. However, less is known about the survival benefits oftheir subpopulations.

Methods: Using machine learning models, we assessed the clinical association of the CD8+, PD1+, TCF1+ cel l subset by multiplex immunohistochemistry using tissue microarrays in 553 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients and its correlation with other immune cell biomarkers.

Antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in the cerebrospinal fluid of COVID-19 patients and vaccinated controls: a multicentre study.

Introduction: SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of COVID-19 patients possibly reflect blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier (BCB) disruption due to systemic inflammation. However, some studies indicate that CSF antibodies signal a neurotropic infection. Currently, larger studies are needed to clarify this, and it is unknown if CSF antibodies appear solely after infection or also after COVID-19 vaccination.

The value of patch testing with plants "as is" in diagnosing plant sensitization.

Background: The number of commercially available plant allergens/extracts is limited and therefore patch testing with fresh/dried plant material may be a necessary supplement in diagnosing plant allergy.

Objectives: To evaluate the usefulness of patch testing with plants "as is" compared to patch testing with commercial and in-house produced plant test materials and to report on species eliciting positive patch test reactions.

Patients/materials/methods: Consecutive eczema patients, who were patch tested between January 2019 and December 2023 and who had at least one positive reaction to a plant allergen and/or extract and/or plant "as is" were included in the study.

Healthcare workers' informal uses of mobile phones and other mobile devices to support their work: a qualitative evidence synthesis.

Background: Healthcare workers sometimes develop their own informal solutions to deliver services. One such solution is to use their personal mobile phones or other mobile devices in ways that are unregulated by their workplace. This can help them carry out their work when their workplace lacks functional formal communication and information systems, but it can also lead to new challenges.
