Objective: To characterize the impact of subsequent fellowship on the case log experience of trainees throughout their residency and specifically their chief resident year.

Materials And Methods: Urology resident case logs from 2010 to 2022 were obtained from 13 institutions for total residency and chief years. Five categorized index procedures were included for analysis: General Urology; Endourology; Reconstructive Urology; Urologic Oncology; and Pediatric Urology.

Since its outbreak, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has significantly impacted the pediatric population. Pulmonary surfactant dysfunction has been linked to other respiratory diseases in children and COVID-19 in adults, but its role in COVID-19 severity remains unclear. We hypothesized that elevated surfactant protein (SP) levels and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of SP genes are associated with severe COVID-19 in children.

Introduction: Immunoparalysis is a state of immune dysfunction characterized by a marked reduction in the immune system's responsiveness, often observed following severe infections, trauma, or critical illness. This study aimed to perform a longitudinal assessment of immune function over the initial two weeks following the onset of sepsis and critical illness.

Methods: We compared ex vivo-stimulated cytokine release from whole blood of critically ill patients to traditional markers of immunoparalysis, including monocyte Human Leukocyte Antigen (mHLA)-DR expression and absolute lymphocyte count (ALC).
