Objectives: The study was undertaken to assess whether previously healthy infants with bronchiolitis develop elevated pulmonary artery pressures.
Material And Methods: We performed 2D and Doppler echocardiography in 94 infants, aged between 2 and 12 months, from November 2007 to December 2009. 47 infants had bronchiolitis and 47 were in the control group.

Material And Methods: We performed 2D and Doppler echocardiography in 137 infants, aged between 1 and 12 month, from November 2007 to December 2009. 75 infants had acute respiratory diseases (49 bronchiolitis, 16 interstitial pneumonia, 3 bronchopneumonia, 6 episodic wheezing, 1 lobar pneumonia) and 62 were in the control group.

Erdosteine has positive effects on mucus rheology and transport due to the active metabolite (Metabolite I) which contains a free thiol group. Erdosteine inhibits bacterial adhesiveness and has antioxidant properties. A synergistic effect of erdosteine with various antibiotics has been demonstrated in pharmacological and clinical studies.

Between 1985 and 1989, a sample of 13,710 subjects (5,825 males and 7,885 females) from the Vrancea, Bacău, Neamţ and Suceava districts were examined for the presence of this pathological gene, 32 male hemizygotes and 13 female heterozygotes and homozygotes being detected. The incidence of G-6-PD deficit in the hemizygotes was of 0.55%.
