Purpose: This case series presents four cases of periprosthetic ulna fractures following Aptis distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) arthroplasty to elucidate clinical characteristics, contributing factors, management challenges, and short-term outcomes following this rare complication and to propose prevention and optimal treatment strategies.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of 239 Aptis DRUJ prostheses implanted between 2012 and 2022 at a single institution. We identified four cases of periprosthetic ulna fractures and assessed demographics, surgical indications, time to fracture, mechanism of injury, radiographic findings, treatment modalities, associated complications, and outcomes.

Introduction: The superficial location of the extensor tendons makes them particularly vulnerable to lacerations. Patients most commonly present to the emergency department (ED) after these injuries. We aimed to measure the safety of immediate surgical repair of traumatic open extensor tendon injuries in an ED minor procedure room (MPR) under local anesthesia, and the associated post-operative infection and complication rates.

Introduction Pyogenic flexor tenosynovitis (PFT) is a common hand infection that can cause significant morbidity. Although treatment involves surgical debridement and inpatient intravenous (IV) antibiotics, there is a paucity of literature guiding antibiotic use. This study aims to determine if the use of postoperative outpatient oral antibiotics leads to poor outcomes compared to IV antibiotics given in an institutional setting.

Purpose: High intensity focused ultrasound (HiFU) is a cyclodestructive therapy for controlling intraocular pressure (IOP) in glaucoma. The mechanism of action is thought to be through destruction of the ciliary epithelium as well as increased uveoscleral outflow. We reviewed the change in aqueous humour dynamics parameters including aqueous humour flow rate, tonographic outflow facility (TOF) and uveoscleral outflow at 12 months.

Purpose: To investigate the effects of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HiFU) on aqueous humor dynamics in patients with glaucoma.

Design: Comparative, nonrandomized, interventional study.

Participants: Adult patients with a diagnosis of open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension with suboptimal intraocular pressure (IOP) control despite maximum medical treatment who required further IOP optimization.
