[«Masks» of CNS demyelinating diseases. Primary lymphoma].

Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is a rare neoplasm that can affect the brain, eyes, and, rarely, the spinal cord. Clinical presentation and MRI findings can mimic a variety of diseases, including high-grade gliomas, infectious and granulomatous diseases, and demyelinating diseases. We describe three cases where the diagnosis of PCNSL was difficult due to an ambiguous clinical, radiological and laboratory results.

[Clinical characteristics and short-term outcomes of autoimmune encephalitis in adults].

Objective: To characterize clinical, paraclinical features and short-term outcomes in different types of autoimmune encephalitis (AE) in a one-center cohort of Russian patients, as well as to evaluate the frequency and significance of the joint expression of antineuronal and anti-glial antibodies (Abs) in AE.

Material And Methods: Forty-one patients were diagnosed with AE at the Research Center of Neurology from November 2020 to December 2022. Demographic, clinical characteristics, results of laboratory tests, MRI of brain, treatment and outcomes of disease were analyzed.

[Anti-Ma2 paraneoplastic autoimmune encephalitis].

Paraneoplastic syndromes are a heterogeneous group of conditions affecting cancer patients, where the symptoms are not owing to the local effects of the tumor but instead owing to humoral or immunologic effects. Paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS) develop in less than 1% of cancer patients and can affect any part of the nervous system. A variety of PNS phenotypes are associated with anti-Ma2 antibody, primarily encephalitis with a predominant involvement of brainstem, limbic and diencephalic structures.

Ongoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) practice amidst a global COVID-19 crisis: nurse-led analgesia for transfemoral TAVI.

The current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis has led to a relative unavailability of anaesthesiological support for non-acute cardiac care. Currently, transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TF-TAVI) is predominantly performed as an elective catheterisation laboratory (cath lab) procedure. Hence, the performance of TAVI could come to a halt amidst the COVID-19 crisis.
