Background: There is a need to have regular updates from regions where high burden of tuberculosis (TB) have been reported in order to assist the local and global bodies in their objective to curtail the spread of drug resistant TB (DRTB). This study presents a situation report of DRTB in Adamawa State which has been identified as one of the States with high burden of TB in Nigeria.
Materials And Methods: Sputum culture in Lowenstein-Jensen Media, drug sensitivity tests and the GeneXpert MTB/Rif analysis were used in the identification and drug susceptibility studies of isolates obtained from forty TB patients who were enrolled from three selected hospitals with DOTS facilities in the State.
Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Dennettia tripetala Baker f. belonging to the family Annonaceae is an important food and medicinal plant used in some local communities in Southwest Nigeria.
Aims Of The Study: The study aims at determining the chemical composition of the essential oil of different morphological parts of D.
Enantiomerically enriched coordination compounds of aspartic acid and racemic mixtures of coordination compounds of glycine metal-ligand ratio 1 : 3 were synthesized and characterized using infrared and UV-Vis spectrophotometric techniques and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Five of the complexes were resolved using (+)--dichlorobis(ethylenediamine)cobalt(III) chloride, (+)-bis(glycinato)(1,10-phenanthroline)cobalt(III) chloride, and (+)-tris(1,10-phenanthroline)nickel(II) chloride as resolving agents. The antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities of these complexes were then determined.

The compounds formed were characterized using infrared, Uv-vis spectrophotometric analyses, mass spectrometry, magnetic susceptibility measurements, and EDX analyses. It was concluded that 4-hydroxy-3-nitro-2-chromen-2-one coordinated as a monobasic ligand for all the complexes; it also coordinated via the carbonyl moiety in the case of the Cu(II) mixed ligand complexes.

A prospective study to find the pattern of microorganisms responsible for post operative wound infections and their antibiotic susceptibility profile was therefore conducted.
Setting And Methods: Surgical wards in Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.
