Influence of platelet-rich plasma on bone regeneration: a histomorphometric study in rabbit calvaria.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate whether local application of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) would induce bone regeneration in cranial defects on rabbits.

Materials And Methods: Twelve female New Zealand rabbits were used for this study. Two identical 10-mm-diameter bicortical cranial defects were created in each animal.

Presence of a failed kidney transplant in patients who are on hemodialysis is associated with chronic inflammatory state and erythropoietin resistance.

Patients returning to hemodialysis (HD) after failure of their kidney transplant suffer from high morbidity and mortality rates. It is common practice to keep failed kidney transplants in place. It is not known if these failed kidney transplants induce an inflammatory state that contributes to morbidity and mortality.

[Necrosis of the tongue secondary to Horton's disease].

Horton's disease is a generalized vascular disease characterized by giant cell arteritis. Medium and small-sized arteries are the most affected and involvement of the lingual arteries leading to lingual infarction and partial necrosis of the tongue is exceptional. We describe these complications in a 82-year-old female with histologically proved Horton's disease, and review the literature on the topic.

[Renal adenocarcinoma in children. Report of a case].

Description of the accidental finding of a renal adenocarcinoma in a 10-year old boy, after abdominal trauma and with a good evolutive behaviour. The clinical, diagnostic, therapeutical and survival aspects are analyzed, including a literature update of a renal neoformation which shows lower paediatric incidence than Wilm's Tumour or Neuroblastoma.
