Hox genes have been investigated in various Arthropod species, resulting in the identification of ten Hox genes, organized in a colinear arrangement within the genome. Among arthropods, crustaceans exhibit a remarkable diversity of body shapes, which are associated with a variety of egg types, embryonic development patterns, and importantly, with the modulation of Hox genes to specify the identity of body segments along the antero-posterior axis of the embryo. Although there are more than 52,000 species of crustaceans described, their genomic resources are relatively limited, making it challenging to employ several molecular tools for studying embryonic development.

Background: High-risk pregnancies, characterized by underlying health issues or unusual circumstances, pose increased risks to both maternal and neonatal health during pregnancy and childbirth. Global guidelines emphasize the importance of early identification, monitoring, and intervention to mitigate these risks.

Method: We decided to design and implement a telemonitoring system for remotely monitoring and managing pregnancies in women with conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, or high-risk pregnancy.

Studies using the embryos of the freshwater prawn Macrobrachium olfersii have reported changes in embryonic cells after exposure to ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation, such as DNA damage and apoptosis activation. Considering the importance of mitochondria in embryonic cells, this study aimed to characterize the aspects of mitochondrial morphofunctionality in M. olfersii embryos and mitochondrial responses to UVB radiation exposure.

Objective: Globally, obstetric hemorrhage and trauma are the leading causes of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality during pregnancy. Delivering high-quality medical care to these patients is therefore imperative. This study aims to examine the relationship between month of referral and the severity of emergency admissions among pregnant women referred for obstetric hemorrhage and trauma.
