The authors report their views on the treatment of unoperable neoplastic esophago-gastric stenoses with Nitinol prostheses. Despite a number of advantages (reduced trauma, greater tolerability) in relation to plastic prostheses, the paper highlights some problems (difficulty of unfastening, incomplete opening) which may be eliminated by improved materials.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIn spite of the fact that the initial injury has to be treated as quickly as possible, in many emergency pathologies, the priority in early resuscitation periods is to provide an adequate blood flow, tissue perfusion and oxygenation. In multiple injuries, treatment starts before diagnosis because diagnostic examinations cannot begin until the patient's condition has become more stable.
