IFNλ4 has posed a conundrum in human immunology since its discovery in 2013, with its expression linked to complications with viral clearance. While genetic and cellular studies revealed the detrimental effects of IFNλ4 expression, extensive structural and functional characterization has been limited by the inability to express and purify the protein, complicating explanations of its paradoxical behavior. In this work, we report a method for robust production of IFNλ4.

The Uric Acid-to-High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol Ratio: A New Biomarker for Predicting Arrhythmia Recurrence After Atrial Fibrillation Ablation.

We aimed to assess the uric acid-to-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) ratio (UHR) and several other parameters with respect to their performance in detecting recurrence among patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) who underwent ablation. This retrospective cohort study analyzed data from patients who underwent radiofrequency or cryoablation for paroxysmal, persistent, or long persistent AF between September 2021 and September 2023. After ablation, patients were monitored for 24 h, with an ECG Holter used for symptomatic cases.

Predictive efficacy of immature granulocytes in acute complicated appendicitis.

Objective: Acute appendicitis is the most common cause of acute abdomen. It is important to differentiate between complicated and uncomplicated appendicitis before surgery in the emergency department. Recently, immature granulocytes have become one of the biomarkers used as predictors of inflammation.
