Background: Infective endocarditis (IE) caused by viridans and gallolyticus group streptococci (VGS-GGS) resistant to penicillin (PEN-R; minimum inhibitory concentration ≥4 mg/L) is rare but poses therapeutic challenges.
Objectives: To describe the characteristics of patients with IE caused by PEN-R VGS-GGS, focusing on antimicrobial management.
Methods: Retrospective analysis of a prospective cohort of definite IE caused by PEN-R VGS-GGS between 2008 and 2023 in 40 Spanish hospitals.
Doxycycline is a tetracycline, which have been marketed in different species for treating infections caused by susceptible bacteria. There is limited information on the disposition kinetics of this drug in ewes and this antimicrobial may be useful against several sheep pathogens that are common causes of morbidity and economic loss. Therefore, the aim of this work was to establish the pharmacokinetics of doxycycline after intravenous (IV) and extravascular (subcutaneous (SC) and intramuscular (IM)) administrations in this species.

Little information is available on the pharmacokinetics of doxycycline in lactating goats. The objective of this study was to establish the disposition kinetics of doxycycline after parenteral administration (intravenous and intramuscular) in dairy goats and its elimination in milk.

Cyanex 923 extracted As(V) (and sulfuric acid) from acidic solutions; however, it could not be used to remove the metal from slightly acid or neutral solutions. The extraction of arsenic is exothermic and responded to the formation of HAsO·nL species in the organic phase (L represents the extractant, and the stoichiometric factor, n = 1 or 2, depends on the acidity of the aqueous phase).
