Prediction of organophosphorus insecticide-induced intermediate syndrome with stimulated concentric needle single fibre electromyography.

Background: Deliberate self-poisoning (DSP) using organophosphorus (OP) insecticides are a common clinical problem in Asia. OPs inhibit acetylcholine esterase (AChE), leading to over-activity of muscarinic and nicotinic cholinergic circuits. Intermediate syndrome (IMS) is mediated via prolonged nicotinic receptor stimulation at the neuromuscular junction and its onset is between 24-96 hours post ingestion.

Granulomatous mastitis: etiology, imaging, pathology, treatment, and clinical findings.

Purpose: To outline the demographics, clinical presentation, imaging features, and treatment modalities observed among a series of patients diagnosed with biopsy-proven granulomatous mastitis (GM).

Method: Following approval by institutional review board, retrospective chart review was performed on patients with biopsy-proven granulomatous mastitis at our institution in the period from January 2013 until October 2017.

Results: A total of 90 patients were identified: 87 women and 3 men.

Impact of Simulation-Based Training on Radiology Trainee Education in Ultrasound-Guided Breast Biopsies.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to determine the impact of a simulation-based ultrasound-guided (USG) breast biopsy training session on radiology trainee procedural knowledge, comfort levels, and overall procedural confidence and anxiety.

Methods: Twenty-one diagnostic radiology residents from a single academic institution were recruited to participate in an USG breast biopsy training session. The residents filled out a questionnaire before and after the training session.

Is breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) useful for diagnosis of additional sites of disease in patients recently diagnosed with pure ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS)?

Purpose: To determine if breast MRI is useful for detecting additional or invasive sites of disease in patients initially diagnosed with pure DCIS.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective review of women diagnosed with pure DCIS who underwent a breast MRI for evaluation of extent of disease was performed at a single institution from January 2013 to April 2015. Data analysis included imaging (mammography, ultrasound and MRI) and pathology characteristics (histology and biomarker status) of the primary DCIS as well as descriptors for the additional sites of disease incidentally found by breast MRI.
