Clinical data has shown that stroke exacerbates dementia in Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients. Previous work, combining rat models of AD and stroke have shown that neuroinflammation may be the common mediator between AD and stroke toxicity. This study examined the effects of triflusal (2-acetoxy-4-trifluoromethylbenzoic acid) in APP(23) transgenic mice receiving strokes.

Some studies in animal models showed that several neurotrophins may be implicated in the regulation of light-dependent suprachiasmatic pacemaker and in other functions implicated in long-term memory acquisition during sleep. However, no data are known about the role played by NGF in ultradian regulation in humans. The aim of this study was to investigate whether or not there is a natural diurnal fluctuation during daytime in healthy and schizophrenic subjects with a normal light/dark cycle.

The cytologic features of primary and metastatic uterine sarcomas, as seen in both gynecologic and nongynecologic smears from a series of 58 patients with positive cytologic findings, are presented and discussed. Cytologic examination plays a role in tumor typing but not in early diagnosis of uterine sarcomas since these neoplasms almost exclusively originate submucosally and infrequently shed cells prior to attaining considerable size. Cytomorphology of neoplastic cells varied greatly according to the type of tumor and ranged from small, uniform cells in tight, cohesive clusters to bizarre, pleomorphic spindle-shaped cells with long, ill-defined cytoplasmic processes.
