Three immunocompetent children were admitted to the hospital because of varicella-related complications. The first patient developed a bacterial pneumonia secondary to a varicella infection which ultimately lead to a debridement using Video Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery. The second patient presented with a left peripheral facial paralysis and vesicular lesions in de left auricle.

There is extensive literature debating whether perceived size is used to guide grasping. A possible reason for not using judged size is that using judged positions might lead to more precise movements. As this argument does not hold for small objects and all studies showing an effect of the Ebbinghaus illusion on grasping used small objects, we hypothesized that size information is used for small objects but not for large ones.

We present a wavelength tunable, coupled-cavity laser in a standard indium phosphide multiproject wafer shuttle which did not support distributed feedback gratings. The single-mode operation was enabled by reflections from slots in the laser cavity. The wavelength of the laser emission was tunable over 20 nm near a wavelength of 1560 nm via the currents applied to each section of the laser.

Earlier it was observed that polarization rotation in an AWG built from birefringent waveguides can result in sidelobes in its response. This effect was measured in a polarization sensitive AWG with an orthogonal layout. Now we investigate through detailed simulation whether this effect also exists in polarization desensitised AWGs.
