Many important thermodynamic calculations for aqueous systems are profoundly limited because ion specific interactions have not been understood. Here an alternative modeling paradigm with compelling advantages is presented based on fundamental insights regarding ion-ion interactions at higher electrolyte concentrations. We also show how an intense ongoing controversy regarding single ion activity coefficients (SIACs) can be resolved and how SIACs can be quantified in full thermodynamic compliance using an overlooked convention.

Impact of rurality on health care utilization among Australian residents from 2009 to 2021.

Purpose: In Australia, there is limited research regarding the effect of rurality on health care utilization using longitudinal data.

Methods: We analyzed data from four annual waves (2009, 2013, 2017, and 2021) of the longitudinal Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) Survey to examine changes in the health care utilization over time among urban and rural residents. Poisson regression models estimated adjusted incidence rate ratios (aIRR) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for rural versus urban residents, accounting for a range of health-related and sociodemographic characteristics.

Data Monitoring Committees (DMCs) are groups of experts that review accumulating data from one or more ongoing clinical studies and advise the Sponsor regarding the continuing safety of study subjects along with the continuing validity and scientific merit of the study. Although DMCs are widely used, considerable variability exists in their conduct. This paper offers recommendations, derived from sessions given at the 2023 Central European Network International Biometric and Statisticians in the Pharmaceutical Industry Conferences' and the authors' experiences.

Opportunities of topical drug products in a changing dermatological landscape.

Despite the prevalence and the impact on quality of life of dermatological indications, drug products to treat such conditions have rarely been blockbusters.
