Introduction: Clinic absenteeism promotes higher waiting lists for medical procedures and public resources waste.

Objectives: The present work aimed to identify the reasons for clinic absenteeism from each cycle of the antineoplastic chemotherapy treatment, as well as to determine the socio-demographic, clinical and treatment profiles of this population.

Methods: This observational prospective work evaluated pediatric and adult patients which missed their chemotherapy cycle between May and October 2023 in a Cancer Center located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Article Synopsis
  • - Perovskite solar cells are promising for future solar technology, but their commercialization is hindered by stability issues, with current aging tests lacking reliability.
  • - A new industrial encapsulation process using a highly viscous adhesive helps reduce stress at key interfaces and incorporates hexagonal boron nitride to enhance thermal and barrier properties.
  • - This encapsulation method has proven effective in prolonged aging tests, maintaining over 80% efficiency, and is adaptable for various cell types, including semi-transparent designs for building-integrated solar applications.

Chemotherapy, one of the primary cancer treatments, has a high risk of causing significant harm in cases of its misuse. Pharmaceutical intervention is one of the strategies used to prevent medication errors from reaching the patient by identifying drug-related problems or other discrepancies related to patient data or medical progress. The primary objective of this study was to analyze the profile of the pharmaceutical intervention made in chemotherapy prescriptions for adult and pediatric patients in order to measure its impact on patient safety.

Semitransparent perovskite solar cells (ST-PSCs) are increasingly important in a range of applications, including top cells in tandem devices and see-through photovoltaics. Transparent conductive oxides (TCOs) are commonly used as transparent electrodes, with sputtering being the preferred deposition method. However, this process can damage exposed layers, affecting the electrical performance of the devices.

Article Synopsis
  • A study aimed to assess the prevalence of arterial hypertension and obesity among Brazilian adolescents and how much hypertension can be attributed to obesity.
  • Data were collected from around 73,399 students representing different regions in Brazil, revealing a hypertension prevalence of 9.6% and obesity prevalence of 8.4%, with higher rates seen in males and the southern region.
  • The research found that obese adolescents had significantly higher hypertension rates (28.4%), and about 17.8% of hypertension cases were attributable to obesity.
