Background: Bile acid synthesis defects (BASDs) can be severely disabling involving the liver and nervous system, potentially due to elevated levels of toxic C-bile acid intermediates. Cholic acid (CA) supplementation is hypothesized to decrease bile acid production, stimulate bile secretion and -flow, and slowing down disease progression. This systematic review assesses the clinical and biochemical effectiveness, and safety of CA in BASDs patients.

However, after reanalysis, unknown impurities were identified in the CDCA active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) using thin-layer chromatography from the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph.Eur.

However, there is a major gap between the large number of developed AI tools and those translated into daily clinical practice, which can be primarily attributed to limited usefulness and trust in current AI tools. Instead of technically driven development, little effort has been put into value-based development to ensure AI tools will have a clinically relevant impact on patient care.

Imidazole Propionate (ImP), a gut-derived metabolite from histidine, affects insulin signaling in mice and is elevated in type 2 diabetes (T2D). However, the source of histidine and the role of the gut microbiota remain unclear. We conducted an intervention study in mice and humans, comparing ImP kinetics in mice on a high-fat diet with varying histidine levels and antibiotics, and assessed ImP levels in healthy and T2D subjects with histidine supplementation.
