Maintaining a pair bond year after year (perennial monogamy) often enhances reproductive success, but what familiar pairs are doing differently to improve success is unknown. We tested the hypothesis that endocrine changes mediate improvements in parental attendance in known-age Cassin's auklets , for which we found limited evidence. Instead, we found sex-specific parental roles in familiar pairs.

Significant barriers exist in the bureaucracy surrounding prescribing and state and territory legislation which further constrain midwives capacity to prescribe required medications.
Background: Current evidence indicates Endorsed Midwives improve timely access to medications and can experience both enablers and barriers to prescribing.
During animal migration, ephemeral communities of taxa at all trophic levels co-occur over space and time. The interactions between predators and prey along migration corridors are ecologically and evolutionarily significant. However, these interactions remain understudied in terrestrial systems and warrant further investigations using novel approaches.

Recent technological advances have led to GPS-tracking devices light enough for birds as small as ~30 g, creating novel opportunities to remotely monitor fine-scale movements and space use for these smaller species. We tested whether miniaturized GPS tags can allow us to understand space use of migratory birds away from their capture sites and sought to understand both pre-breeding space use as well as territory and habitat use on the breeding grounds.
