The full complement of ion channels which influence insect auditory mechanotransduction and the mechanisms by which their influence is exerted remain unclear. (K4), a family member encoding voltage-gated potassium channels in , has been shown to localize to dendrites in some neuron types, suggesting the potential role of in hearing, including mechanotransduction. A GFP trap was used to visualize the localization of the channel in Johnston's organ neurons responsible for hearing in the antenna.

Importance: Taxation of sweetened beverages is a proposed strategy to reduce excess sugar consumption. The association of such taxes with health outcomes is not well studied. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is the largest US city with a beverage tax.

Associations of the Philadelphia sweetened beverage tax with changes in adult body weight: an interrupted time series analysis.

Background: Sweetened beverage taxes are associated with large decreases in sugar-sweetened beverage sales, but their effects on weight outcomes are unclear. We examined associations of the 2017 Philadelphia beverage tax with changes in adult weight outcomes.

Methods: We obtained electronic health record data on adults 18-65 years old in Philadelphia (intervention) and other areas of Pennsylvania and New Jersey (control) from 2014 to 2019.

Fetal Mortality: United States, 2022.

Objectives: This report presents 2022 fetal mortality data by maternal race and Hispanic origin, age, tobacco use during pregnancy, and state of residence, as well as by plurality, sex, gestational age, birthweight, and selected causes of death. Trends in fetal mortality are also examined.

Methods: Descriptive tabulations of data are presented and interpreted for all fetal deaths reported for the United States for 2022 with a stated or presumed period of gestation of 20 weeks or more.
