Computer-Aided High Tibial Osteotomy-A Comparative Study of Commonly Used 3D Printing Technology and Navigation Application.

Background: High tibial osteotomy (HTO) is a surgical procedure for treating certain knee conditions. Proper execution of HTO can preserve joint function and delay or avoid the need for total knee replacement. This study compared different 3D printing techniques (fused deposition modeling, selective laser sintering, and direct metal laser sintering) and a navigation system for their suitability in assisting HTO surgeries.

Application of image recognition-based tracker-less augmented reality navigation system in a series of sawbone trials.

Background: This study introduced an Augmented Reality (AR) navigation system to address limitations in conventional high tibial osteotomy (HTO). The objective was to enhance precision and efficiency in HTO procedures, overcoming challenges such as inconsistent postoperative alignment and potential neurovascular damage.

Methods: The AR-MR (Mixed Reality) navigation system, comprising HoloLens, Unity Engine, and Vuforia software, was employed for pre-clinical trials using tibial sawbone models.

Distinguishing risk of curve progression in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis with bone microarchitecture phenotyping: a 6-year longitudinal study.

Low bone mineral density and impaired bone quality have been shown to be important prognostic factors for curve progression in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). There is no evidence-based integrative interpretation method to analyze high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) data in AIS. This study aimed to (1) utilize unsupervised machine learning to cluster bone microarchitecture phenotypes on HR-pQCT parameters in girls with AIS, (2) assess the phenotypes' risk of curve progression and progression to surgical threshold at skeletal maturity (primary cohort), and (3) investigate risk of curve progression in a separate cohort of girls with mild AIS whose curve severity did not reach bracing threshold at recruitment (secondary cohort).

Mechanism and clinical implication of gut dysbiosis in degenerative abdominal aortic aneurysm: A systematic review.

The gut microbiome is the entirety of microorganisms and their genomes residing in the gut, characterised by diversity, stability, and resilience. Disrupted gut microbiome has been implicated in multiple disease entities. The aim of this paper is to summarise the rapidly evolving contemporary evidence of gut dysbiosis on the development and progression of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), discuss possible mechanisms, and explore potential microbiota-targeted interventions and prognostic markers for AAA.

Network analysis on psychopathological symptoms, psychological measures, quality of life and COVID-19 related factors in Chinese psychiatric patients in Hong Kong.

Background: Psychiatric patients are susceptible to adverse mental health impacts during COVID-19, but complex interplays between psychopathology and pandemic-related variables remain elusive. This study aimed to investigate concomitant associations between psychopathological symptoms, psychological measures and COVID-19 related variables in Chinese psychiatric patients during the peak of fifth pandemic wave in Hong Kong.

Methods: We employed network analysis to investigate inter-relationships among psychopathological symptoms (including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder-like [PTSD-like] symptoms, insomnia, psychotic symptoms), cognitive complaints, health-related quality of life, loneliness, resilience and selected pandemic-related factors in 415 psychiatric outpatients between 28 March and 8 April, 2022.
