Eyelash extensions are a common cosmetic procedure. However, they are not without risk. In the perioperative context, this may involve a risk of exposure to keratopathy due to corneal surface vulnerability, physical irritation, and/or inadequate eyelid closure.

Evaluation of point-of-care capillary and venous blood glucose concentrations in hospitalized neonatal foals.

Objective: To compare glucose measurements from capillary and venous blood samples using a point-of-care (POC) glucometer with a standard laboratory (colorimetric, glucose oxidase) assay (LABGLU) in a population of hospitalized, neonatal foals.

Design: Multicenter, prospective, experimental study, conducted between March 2019 and June 2020.

Setting: Four university teaching hospitals and 1 private referral hospital.

Niche breadth is often quantified using host specificity, which encompasses the number of host species a parasite can exploit and the parasite's distribution among its hosts. Parasites with a wider niche breadth can potentially occupy more host species and are often more evenly distributed among hosts than parasites with a narrower niche breadth.

Characterization of Caulimovirid-like Sequences from Upland Cotton ( L.) Exhibiting Terminal Abortion in Georgia, USA.

In this study, we investigated the potential involvement of endogenous viral elements (EVEs) in the development of apical tissue necrosis, resulting in the terminal abortion of upland cotton ( L.) in Georgia. The high-throughput sequence analysis of symptomatic and asymptomatic plant tissue samples revealed near-complete EVE-Georgia (EVE-GA) sequences closely related to caulimoviruses.
