Purpose: Individuals with eating disorders (ED) and comorbid borderline personality disorder (BPD) may benefit from therapies focusing on emotion regulation, such as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of one-year standard DΒΤ enhanced with cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) strategies for patients suffering from ED and BPD.

Methods: Seventy-two BPD and ED (anorexia and bulimia nervosa) participants were recruited from the eating disorders unit of the 1st Psychiatric Department of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) offers potentially curative therapy for many hematologic and nonhematologic conditions. As a successful outcome of Qatar's National Cancer Strategy, the HSCT program was started in the National Center for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR) in October 2015. The HSCT program in NCCCR is the only transplant program in Qatar and self-sufficient with all three core components: the stem cell collection facility, the stem cell processing facility, and the clinical program, which are locally available at Hamad Medical Corporation.

Patients with cancer face an ever-widening gap between the exponential rate at which technology improves and the linear rate at which these advances are translated into clinical practice. Closing this gap will require the establishment of learning loops that intimately link lab and clinic and enable the immediate transfer of knowledge, thereby engaging highly motivated patients with cancer as true partners in research. Here, we discuss the goal of creating a distributed network that aims to place world-class resources at the disposal of select patients with cancer and their oncologists, and then use these intensively monitored individual patient experiences to improve collective understanding of how cancer works.
