Do we more often opt for conservative management of ovarian tumors after changing the Dutch national guideline on enlarged ovaries? A nationwide cohort study.

Introduction: Increasing evidence shows that conservative management of ovarian tumors classified as benign, based on ultrasound assessment, is safe. Therefore, conservative management has been adopted as the preferred strategy for certain ovarian tumors assessed as benign in the Dutch national guideline on enlarged ovaries in 2013. The aim of this study was to examine whether implementation of this guideline has led to changes in the number of women/100 000 women undergoing surgery for an ovarian tumor in the Netherlands.

Current uptake and barriers to wider use of the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) models in Dutch gynaecological practice.

Objective: Correct referral of women with an ovarian tumor to an oncology department remains challenging. The International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) consortium has developed models with higher diagnostic accuracy than the alternative Risk of Malignancy Index (RMI). This study explores the uptake of the IOTA models in Dutch hospitals and factors that impede or promote implementation.

'Just stuff yourself': Identifying health-promotion strategies from the perspectives of adolescent boys from disadvantaged neighbourhoods.

Context: The prevalence of overweight and obesity among adolescents has risen dramatically in the last decade, disproportionally affecting adolescents from disadvantaged neighbourhoods. Adolescent boys from disadvantaged neighbourhoods are hard to reach for health promotion.

Objective: This study aims to understand perceptions of health and health-promotion strategies among adolescent boys from disadvantaged neighbourhoods in order to identify opportunities for health promotion that are better tailored to their needs.

Simple Green Route to Performance Improvement of Fully Bio-Based Linseed Oil Coating Using Nanofibrillated Cellulose.

Due to their bio-based character, oil-based coatings become more and more prevalent in wood surface finishing. These coatings impart appealing optical and haptic properties to the wood surface, but lack sufficient protection against water and mechanical influences. The present study reports a simple green route to improve the performance of linseed oil coating by the addition of nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC).

Cognitive dysfunctions in parents of schizophrenic patients parallel the deficits found in patients.

Schizophrenia is characterized by a global cognitive impairment, with varying degrees of deficit in all ability domains. Since genetic factors are important in the etiology of schizophrenia we investigated whether parents of schizophrenic patients also show cognitive deficits, particularly on those cognitive ability domains that are most severely affected in patients. Both biological parents of 37 patients with schizophrenia (N=74 subjects) and 28 comparable healthy married control couples (N=56 subjects) were included.
