Biotic stress in cotton plants caused by the phytopathogenic fungus var. triggers symptoms of ramulosis, a disease characterized by necrotic spots on young leaves, followed by death of the affected branch's apical meristem, plant growth paralysis, and stimulation of lateral bud production. Severe cases of ramulosis can cause up to 85% yield losses in cotton plantations.

The objective of this study was to verify the physiological behavior and development of maize plants under hydric deficit inoculated with the AMF Rhizophagus clarus and Claroideoglomus etunicatum and the commercial inoculant ROOTELLA BR in nonsterilized soil as a strategy to mitigate the effects of drought in the crop. Corn seeds were grown and inoculated with R. clarus, C.

Article Synopsis
  • Soybean is facing productivity challenges due to increased drought conditions, prompting research into using arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) as a way to help combat drought stress.
  • In a study, two soybean cultivars (Anta82 and Desafio) were tested under drought stress with and without AMF inoculation to assess their physiological and morphological responses.
  • The findings showed that AMF helped improve growth and physiological traits in both soybean cultivars under drought conditions, making their performance comparable to well-watered plants.

Field experiments testing the effect of phosphate-solubilizing rhizobacteria (PSRB) should consider the cropping history and the method used to inoculate the strains. We evaluated the hypothesis that PSRB previously isolated from soybean seedlings could be effective in promoting growth in this oilseed crop in soils with different cultivation periods. We also evaluated whether this growth promotion could be influenced by cultivation histories or the inoculation method (via seeds or soil).

Food loss due to contamination caused by fungi has much impact on agriculture and leads to significant economic losses. Synthetic and natural fungicides have been used for avoiding losses of several food products due to fungal contamination. As a result, species of the genus Capsicum have been used for preserving food because of their chemical compounds with antifungal activity.
