A study was made of the condition of 44 acromegalic patients at various time after gamma-beam therapy. It has shown that therapeutic efficacy depends on initial sizes of adenomas and the level of growth hormone as well as on the time of observation. At late terms after therapy normalization of the level of growth hormone was observed in 41% of patients, clinical improvement in 44%, the absence of and effect in 15%.

The experience of the world leading hospitals confirms the high efficacy and appropriateness of radiation therapy of nontumorous diseases. The authors consider the general principles of the organization of radiotherapeutic service, discuss reasons that have led to a decrease in the use of this method for therapy of nontumorous diseases in this country. They also emphasize the fact that radiation therapy must have its place among therapeutic modalities used for nontumorous diseases.

The results of antiinflammatory radiation therapy were analyzed in 17 patients with trigeminal neuralgia and 7 patients with post-neuritic++ contractures of mimetic muscles. The therapy yielded positive results and was adequately tolerated by all patients. In the follow-up, no changes of the patients' general status or hematological indices were detected.
