Background: Sedation is often required for pediatric medical imaging procedures to ensure compliance and image quality. Recommendations for pediatric sedation exist, but there are currently no guidelines for the choice of the sedative drug.

Objective: To compare the efficacy and adverse events of per os pentobarbital with intravenous chlorpromazine in children undergoing diagnostic imaging procedures.

Early life adverse experiences, including childhood maltreatment, are major risk factors for psychopathology, including anxiety disorders with dysregulated fear responses. Consistent with human studies, maltreatment by the mother (MALT) leads to increased emotional reactivity in rhesus monkey infants. Whether this persists and results in altered emotion regulation, due to enhanced fear learning or impaired utilization of safety signals as shown in human stress-related disorders, is unclear.

Article Synopsis
  • DNA methylation changes with age allow machine learning models, called epigenetic clocks, to estimate an individual's biological age and its difference from true age, known as epigenetic age acceleration (EAA), which correlates with health outcomes.
  • Researchers created two accurate epigenetic clocks for rhesus macaques using blood samples from various ages and backgrounds, achieving high correlations between predicted and true ages.
  • The second clock was specifically used to explore the impact of early life adversity, finding that maltreatment is linked to accelerated epigenetic aging and increased stress hormones in young macaques.

We present an enhancer AAV toolbox for accessing and perturbing striatal cell types and circuits. Best-in-class vectors were curated for accessing major striatal neuron populations including medium spiny neurons (MSNs), direct and indirect pathway MSNs, as well as Sst-Chodl, Pvalb-Pthlh, and cholinergic interneurons. Specificity was evaluated by multiple modes of molecular validation, three different routes of virus delivery, and with diverse transgene cargos.

Bacterial strain H4R21 was isolated from beech rhizosphere soil sampled in the forest experimental site of Montiers (Meuse, France). It effectively weathers minerals, hydrolyses chitin and produces quorum sensing signal molecules. The strain is aerobic and Gram-stain-negative.
