Links between social anxiety and risky drinking in college are well documented, but the specifics of this relationship are mixed and likely complex. Impulsivity may play a critical role in enhancing vulnerability for risky drinking in individuals with social anxiety. Here we examined how impulsivity moderates the relationship between social anxiety and alcohol use in college students.

In this work, we exemplified the "copride" family of drug candidates able to both inhibit acetylcholinesterase and to activate 5-HT receptors, with anti-amnesiant and promnesiant activities in mice. Twenty-one analogs of donecopride, the first-in class representative of the series, were synthesized exploring the influence on the biological activities of the substituents (methoxy, amine and chlorine) carried by its phenyl ring. This work was the support of an intensive structure-activity relationship study and allowed to obtain some interesting derivatives of donecopride.

A Pediatric Case of Mastoiditis and Meningitis Case Report in a Healthy Child and Review of the Literature.

In infants and children, bacterial meningitis caused by anaerobic bacteria is rare. However, a serious infection with the anaerobe can occur in previously healthy children with a peak incidence in preschool children and in adolescents. As the clinical presentation can be very similar to meningitis caused by aerobic bacteria, one should consider as the causative agent when preceded by or associated with otitis media with purulent otorrhea or mastoiditis, in combination with minimal or no improvement on empiric antibiotic treatment.
