The prevalence of liver disease is rising and more patients with liver disease are considered for surgery each year. Liver disease poses many potential complications to surgery; therefore, assessing perioperative risk and optimizing a patient's liver health is necessary to decrease perioperative risk. Multiple scoring tools exist to help quantify perioperative risk and can be used in combination to best educate patients prior to surgery.

Aim: In this cross-sectional descriptive study, we aimed to determine the clinical characteristics of children admitted to a tertiary hospital with asthma exacerbations in a city in southern Turkey where aeroallergens are common and to determine how these characteristics affect the severity of exacerbations.

Methods: Data from a cross-sectional analysis of children with asthma exacerbations who were followed up at the Cukurova University Medical Faculty Pediatric Emergency Department (ED) and Pediatric Allergy & Immunology inpatient clinic were retrospectively analyzed. The study included 106 children who were diagnosed with asthma and did not have any additional comorbidities.

Previous studies have shown that housing mice with toys and running wheels increases adult hippocampal neurogenesis and enhances performance on the water maze. However, the relative contribution of running versus enrichment to the neurogenic and pro-cognitive effects is not clear. Recently, it was demonstrated that enrichment devoid of running wheels does not significantly enhance adult hippocampal neurogenesis in female C57BL/6J mice.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the use of virtual cystoscopy performed with multidetector computed tomography (CT) in patients with suspected bladder tumors and histories of bladder carcinoma operation.
