Restricting the Sale of Electronic Nicotine Delivery System Flavors.

Electronic nicotine delivery system use contributes to the epidemic of youth vaping. Regulations to curtail or prohibit the sale of flavored nicotine products aim to disrupt initiation of child nicotine use by reducing access to enticing nicotine flavorings. A total of 6 states and >300 localities have restricted or banned flavored nicotine product sales.

Distal radius fracture volar locking plate osteosynthesis using wide-awake local anaesthesia.

Surgical fixation of distal radius fractures under local anaesthesia with the patient wide awake allows an intraoperative testing of the fixation stability under active mobilization. We evaluated the feasibility and clinical results of this technique in 45 patients prospectively in two matched comparable groups: wide-awake local anaesthesia no tourniquet and loco-regional anaesthesia. We found that the pain scores during the anaesthetic administration and the surgical procedure were similar in two groups.

Clostridium is a diverse genus including more than 200 species involved in varied clinical presentations in infectious diseases. Septic arthritis caused by Clostridium sp. are however uncommon.

Mitigating Risk of Ankle Valgus From Ankle Osteochondroma Resection Using a Transfibular Approach: A Retrospective Study With Six Years of Follow-Up.

To prevent worsening of ankle valgus and functional repercussions, a distal inter-tibiofibular osteochondroma can be removed using a transfibular approach. We evaluated the difference between the preoperative and postoperative tibiotalar tilt at the last follow-up examination and the clinical and radiologic outcomes. We included 10 consecutive ankles that had undergone removal of an osteochondroma using a transfibular approach.

Reproducibility of X-rays and CT arthrography in SLAC, SNAC, SCAC wrists.

The purpose of this study was to assess the inter-observer and intra-observer reproducibility of the interpretation of CT arthrography and plain X-rays for scapholunate advanced collapse (SLAC), scaphoid non-union advanced collapse (SNAC) and scaphoid chondrocalcinosis advanced collapse (SCAC) wrist conditions, as well as the clinical relevance of these imaging modalities. The CT and X-rays images were reviewed twice in a blinded and randomized manner by two experienced orthopedic surgeons specialized in hand surgery, two orthopedic surgery residents and two experienced radiologists specialized in bone and joint imaging. Cohen's kappa and Fleiss' kappa coefficients were used to analyze the reproducibility of interpretation of the radiological examinations.
