Facile and innovative route for large-scale synthesis of SiO fibers with excellent textural properties and HO adsorption performance is presented. At first, a three-dimensional network of SiO precursor fibers was produced from tailored spun solutions (without any toxic elements and surfactants) by centrifugal spinning, which is a very modern fiber-synthesis technique, with numerous advantages over electrospinning. Upon thermal annealing of the precursor fibers, mesoporous amorphous SiO fibers with an ultrahigh surface area of up to 824 m/g and pore size distribution in the range of 2-10 nm were produced.

Physical adsorption of methane in purely siliceous molecular sieves prepared by a recently discovered synthetic pathway using 2D zeolites as nanoscale building blocks has been investigated by means of combined experimental and theoretical approaches. The DFT/CC-based method has been tested on ADOR zeolites of the UTL family and a few experimentally well-characterized siliceous zeolites. Excellent agreement between theoretical and experimental heats of adsorption has been found for OKO, PCR, MFI, CHA and AEI zeolites.

Aims: To evaluate the incidence of bone marrow suppression and consequences of MMF dose adjustment in patients within the first year after heart transplantation.

Methods: Group I (n=47) was treated with a regimen currently used in patients after heart transplantation (mycophenolatemofetil - MMF, valganciclovir - VGC and trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole - TMP-SMX). Group II (n=47) received only MMF of potentially myelotoxic medications.

Female phenotype, sexual infantilism, small stature and stigmatization are typical for patients with Turner's syndrome (TS). The most frequent cardiovascular manifestations in these patients are a bicuspidal aortal valve and coarctation of the aorta. In 5% patients dilatation of the aorta is found which can develop into a dissecting aneurysm.

The study makes an assessment of the results of surgical treatment of infectious endocarditis in 25 patients operated in 1982-1988 at the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Medicine. At the active stage of the disease, surgery was performed on 15 patients (60%), while prior to the operation, 16 persons' condition (64%) corresponded to the IIIrd and IVth degree of the NYHA functional classification. In infectious endocarditis, early mortality after valve replacement was 8%, late mortality--9% with an average of two-year post operative follow-up.
