Autoimmune Thyroid Disorders in Autoimmune Addison Disease.

Context: Autoimmune thyroid disease is the most common endocrine comorbidity in autoimmune Addison disease (AAD), but detailed investigations of prevalence and clinical course are lacking.

Objective: This work aimed to provide comprehensive epidemiological and clinical data on autoimmune thyroid disorders in AAD.

Methods: A nationwide registry-based study including 442 patients with AAD and autoimmune thyroid disease were identified through the Norwegian National Registry of Autoimmune Diseases.

Intraoperative vascular complications during 2278 cerebral endovascular procedures with multimodality IONM: relationship between signal change, complication, intervention and postoperative outcome.

Background: Intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) is often used during cerebral endovascular procedures.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between intraoperative vascular complications and IONM signal changes, and the impact of interventions on signal resolution and postoperative outcomes.

Methods: A series of 2278 cerebral endovascular procedures conducted under general anesthesia and using electroencephalography and somatosensory evoked potential monitoring were retrospectively reviewed.

Equine hoof function investigated by pressure transducers inside the hoof and accelerometers mounted on the first phalanx.

The dampening of hoof impact was investigated by measuring the accelerations transmitted through structures of the hoof in horses trotting freely on an asphalt tarmac. The hoof dampened the vibrations transmitted to the first phalanx. Shoeing decreased the viscous dampening and increased the median power frequency and the maximal amplitude of the vibrations transmitted to the first phalanx.

Fissure sealing of permanent first molars in children receiving a high standard of prophylactic care.

The efficiency of sealing the occlusal fissures of permanent first molars was studied in a group of patients 6-9 yr of age receiving a high standard of prophylactic care. Very soon after the eruption one of the teeth in a homomaxillary pair was sealed, and the contralateral was used for control. The control teeth were painted with a fluoride varnish (Duraphat) every 6 months during the trial.
