Production of milks and kefir beverages from nuts and certain physicochemical analysis.

Cashew, hazelnut, peanut, walnut, and almond were used to make nut milk and kefir in this study. Kefir starter culture was used to ferment cow and nut milks. Kefir samples were kept at 4 °C for 30 days and examined on the 1st, 15th, and 30th days.

Protective effect of basic fibroblast growth factor on laser induced retinopathy.

Aim: To investigate the side effects of the commonly used laser treatment along with testing the neuroprotective effect of bFGF on a potential retinal impairment.

Methods: To do this, 30 chinchilla pigmented adult male rabbits were divided into the control and experimental groups. The control and experimental groups underwent both laser application and bFGF treatment.

Extracorporeal shock wave treatment for defective nonunion of the radius: a rabbit model.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of extracorporeal shock wave treatment (ESWT) on bony union using volume analysis of the callus mass by computed tomography and histology.

Methods: Both radii of 13 rabbits were osteotomised and a defective bony nonunion created by placing a polyethylene pad between the osteotomy site for 40 days. Nonunion was confirmed by radiography using Lane-Sandhu criteria.

The effect of a biphasic ceramic on calvarial bone regeneration in rats.

Bioactive ceramics (calcium phosphate ceramics, hydroxyapatite ceramics) are now extensively used in oral surgery. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of a new biphasic ceramic (Ceraform) on the osteogenesis in a rat calvarial defect model. Fifteen Wistar rats were used in this study.

A case with Pyle type metaphyseal dysplasia: clinical, radiological and histological evaluation.

Pyle type metaphyseal dysplasia is a rare autosomal recessive disease that is primarily affect metaphyses. Here we present a case with Pyle type metaphyseal dysplasia. The characteristic features of the case were metapyhseal broadening with undertubulation and Erlenmeyer flask sign at distal femoral and proximal tibial metaphyses.
