Noroviruses, belonging to the family Caliciviridae, are classified into at least ten genogroups (G) based on their major capsid protein (VP1). The common genogroup to be identified in both humans and pigs is GII, although porcine noroviruses (PoNoVs) belong to genotypes of their own (GII.11, GII.

Article Synopsis
  • The paper explores how combining topological band structures with strong particle interactions can lead to innovative many-body systems, particularly focusing on a model for a fractionalized topological insulator.
  • It introduces the concept of “topological bands of zeros” in the fermionic Green's function, which are shown to impact the system's topological invariant but not its quantized transport response.
  • Additionally, the study highlights the emergence of edge states at domain walls between different phases, making this model valuable for examining Green's function zeros and linking solid-state physics with high-energy physics and quantum information science.

Article Synopsis
  • Child maltreatment (CM) in institutions like schools, medical centers, and churches is a growing issue in Germany, impacting health-related quality of life (HRQOL).
  • A study with 2,516 participants found that 33.14% reported experiencing CM in such settings, with nearly half indicating impaired HRQOL.
  • Those who experienced CM in institutions had significantly higher rates of HRQOL impairments, highlighting the need for improved safeguarding measures within these organizations.

Background: Recent studies show the high prevalence of child maltreatment in Germany and that assaults by hospital staff also pose a problem. Since 2020, the Joint Federal Committee has been calling for institutional safeguarding measures (ISM) to protect and support those affected in hospitals. The aim of this study is to analyze the level of knowledge and action competencies regarding child maltreatment among hospital staff and the extent to which ISM are implemented in hospitals.

Background: Identification of animals in need of medical treatment is important in porcine health management, where analytical samples applicable at farm level could be utilized. Several biomarkers are measurable in saliva, which is less stressful to collect than blood. Saliva sampling is easy to learn and repeatable, making it suitable for monitoring purposes.
