Background As the population with cardiovascular disease ages, geriatric conditions are of increasing relevance. A possible geriatric prognostic indicator may be a fall risk score, which is mandated by The Joint Commission to be measured on all hospitalized patients. The prognostic value of a fall risk score on outcomes after dismissal is not well known.

Background: Participation rates in cardiac rehabilitation after myocardial infarction (MI) remain low. Studies investigating the predictive value of psychosocial variables are sparse and often qualitative. Participants And Methods: From January 1, 1979, to May 31, 2006, 3081 persons had MI in Olmsted County, MN. Face-to-face contact was used to recruit patients who were hospitalized for an acute event.

[Development of HLA antibodies in thrombocyte substitution with cell separator products].

In a retrospective study we investigated the development of HLA antibodies in patients who received platelet concentrates from cell separators. 118 hematological/oncological patients from the Frankfurt University Clinics were investigated. They received between 4 and 66 platelet concentrates for the duration of 30 months.
