Enantioselective Addition of 1,3,5,7-Tetramethyl-BODIPYs to Isatins by Bifunctional Quinine-Based Squaramides.

This work describes the development of the first enantioselective addition reaction between 1,3,5,7-tetramethyl-BODIPYs and isatin derivatives. The reaction utilizes bifunctional quinine/squaramide organocatalysts and affords nine novel chiral BODIPY dyes under mild conditions, with enantioselectivities reaching up to 60%. The synthesized BODIPY-oxindoles exhibit high fluorescence emissions, consistent with their parent BODIPYs, and display tunable colors.

Reliability of direct-to-home teleneuropsychological assessment: a within-subject design study.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the need to continue diagnosis and treatment processes, in addition to scientific research, led to a rapid shift towards direct-to-home tele-neuropsychology administrations, the reliability and validity of which had not been clearly established then. This study, therefore, aimed to examine the reliability of direct-to-home tele-neuropsychological assessment (TNP). The sample included 105 cognitively healthy individuals aged between 50-83 years, and 47 patients diagnosed with neurocognitive disorders (mild cognitive impairment and early-stage Alzheimer's type dementia).

Objectives: The chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin (DOX) affects not only cancer cells but also healthy cells in an undesirable manner. The purpose of this study was to investigate the protective roles of rosmarinic acid (RA) and Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) alone and in combination against DOX-induced oxidative stress, cytotoxicity, and genotoxicity in healthy cells. In addition, this study evaluated the expression of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) protein in the Chinese hamster ovary cell line (CHO-K1).

The BBB serves as the main barrier for drug delivery to the brain and is the most restrictive endothelial barrier in the body. Nearly all large therapeutic molecules and over 90% of small-molecule drugs cannot cross the BBB.
