Visual snow is a persistent visual disturbance in which small dots of light appear across the visual field of both eyes, like snowfall. The condition is not widely known, but an increasing number of cases have been described in the last 5 - 6 years. Many patients have consulted a number of specialists without receiving an explanation for their symptoms, and in this clinical review article we therefore wish to make the condition known to more clinicians.

Parkinson's disease is characterised by the core motor symptoms: bradykinesia, rigidity and tremor. The disease also has a number of non-motor symptoms, such as visual impairment. There is no consensus regarding the classification of optic neuritis, and precise diagnostic criteria are not available. This reality means that the diagnosis of disorders that have optic neuritis as the first manifestation can be challenging. Accurate diagnosis of optic neuritis at presentation can facilitate the timely treatment of individuals with multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder, or myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease.

Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disease characterized by fatigable muscle weakness. Despite full spontaneous or pharmacological remission some MG patients still complain of physical and mental fatigue. Fatigue has been related to autonomic dysregulation.

Thymectomy is an established treatment in adult MG and also recommended for the treatment of post-pubertal onset juvenile MG. Whether the youngest children should be thymectomized is still debated. Signs of premature aging of the immune system have been shown in studies on early perioperative thymectomy in children with congenital heart defect.
