Purpose: Retinal capillary hemangioma, often associated with von Hippel-Lindau syndrome, is not characteristically seen in other conditions. We report a patient with Marshall-Stickler syndrome who had a retinal capillary hemangioma.

Method: A 31-year-old man with Marshall-Stickler syndrome was evaluated for a retinal vascular tumor.

A 75-year-old man had undergone bilateral intracapsular cataract extraction and then a scleral buckling procedure for an aphakic retinal detachment in the right eye. He presented 15 years later with a dark brown mass in the superior fornix of his right eye. On the basis of the clinical findings, the diagnosis of a conjunctival melanoma was considered.

We studied four eyes of two patients with bilateral birdshot retinochoroidopathy which developed subretinal choroidal neovascular membranes involving the macula. The subretinal choroidal neovascular membranes in our patients developed six months to five years after the onset of the disease. Both patients described decreasing visual acuities at the time when the choroidal neovascular membranes were identified.

A 64-year-old woman with diabetes mellitus as well as hypertensive retinopathy developed an acute myocardial infarction and hypertensive crisis following the injection of 5 ml. of 10 per cent sodium fluorescein for fundus angiography. This is the first time this complication has been documented.
