The initiation-specific ribosome-associated quality control pathway (iRQC) is activated when translation initiation complexes fail to transition to elongation-competent 80S ribosomes. Upon iRQC activation, RNF10 ubiquitylates the 40S proteins uS3 and uS5, which leads to 40S decay. How iRQC is activated in the absence of pharmacological translation inhibitors and what mechanisms govern iRQC capacity and activity remain unanswered questions.

Optimizing the integration of family physicians into cancer survivorship care in the BC Interior: a mixed methods study of physicians' opinions and experiences.

Purpose: With cancer diagnoses increasing worldwide and the number of cancer survivors rising, family physicians are being increasingly relied upon to provide post-cancer treatment care and/or survivorship care. This mixed-method study explores and evaluates barriers and facilitators to optimizing family physician-led survivorship care in the largely rural Interior of British Columbia (BC), Canada.

Methods: A mixed-method approach consisting of quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews was utilized to explore family physician and oncologist perspectives on the current state of survivorship care for breast, lung, prostate, and colorectal cancers within the BC Interior.

Cryoballoon pulmonary vein isolation: Double stack vs standard ablation.

Background: The results of pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) are limited by arrhythmia recurrence, which is most often due to failure to effectuate a durable contiguous circumferential transmural lesion around the pulmonary vein ostia.

Objective: We sought to determine if enhancing the index ablation line through the use of multiple cryoballoon diameters would be superior to standard ablation with bonus freeze.

Methods: We enrolled 226 consecutive patients referred for cryoballoon-based PVI.

Context: There are urgent calls to transition society to more sustainable trajectories, at scales ranging from local to global. Landscape sustainability (LS), or the capacity for landscapes to provide equitable access to ecosystem services essential for human wellbeing for both current and future generations, provides an operational approach to monitor these transitions. However, the complexity of landscapes complicates how and what to consider when assessing LS.
