Nutri-Score 2023 update.

In 2023, the algorithm underlying the Nutri-Score front-of-pack label was updated to better align with food-based dietary guidelines (FBDGs) across countries engaged in the system. On the basis of a comparison of FBDGs and literature reviews with the current Nutri-Score classification, modification scenarios were developed and tested in nutritional composition databases of branded products in four countries. The updated Nutri-Score nutrient profile model allows a better discrimination between products, in closer alignment with FBDGs, while the updated algorithm adopts a stricter approach for products that are high in components of concern (including non-nutritive sweeteners) and low in favourable dietary components.

Implementing the EuroFIR Document and Data Repositories as accessible resources of food composition information.

The EuroFIR Document and Data Repositories are being developed as accessible collections of source documents, including grey literature, and the food composition data reported in them. These Repositories will contain source information available to food composition database compilers when selecting their nutritional data. The Document Repository was implemented as searchable bibliographic records in the Europe PubMed Central database, which links to the documents online.

Bone marrow micrometastases do not impact disease-free and overall survival in early stage sentinel lymph node-negative breast cancer patients.

Background: The presence of lymph node metastases is the most important prognostic factor in early stage breast cancer. Whether bone marrow micrometastases (BMM) impact the prognosis in sentinel lymph node (SLN)-negative breast cancer patients remains a matter of debate. Therefore, the objective of this study was to assess the impact of BMM on 5-year disease-free and overall survival among those patients.

Evaluation of Swiss guidelines for the indication for hysterectomy in relation to patient outcome.

Background: The application of national guidelines which specify the appropriateness for hysterectomy is believed to lead to improved patient outcomes. However, there was no evidence to support this assumption by outcome data.

Goals: To evaluate adherence to guidelines and the validity of the 1997 Swiss guidelines for the appropriateness of hysterectomy based on changes in patients' functional and psychosocial status.

Accuracy of frozen section of sentinel lymph nodes: a prospective analysis of 659 breast cancer patients of the Swiss multicenter study.

Objective: To assess the accuracy of sentinel lymph node (SLN) frozen section in a prospective multicenter study of early-stage breast cancer patients.

Summary Background Data: The decision to perform an immediate completion axillary node dissection (ALND) is based on results of SLN frozen section. However, SLN frozen sections are not routinely performed in all centers.
