The activity of DNA-RNA-protein synthesizing system of some glial cells was studied using electron cytochemical method for determination of chromatin state and RNA-particles. A dependence of functional state of satellite glial cells (oligodendroglia and astroglia) on the tinctorial neuron state (hyper- and hypochromic scale) was shown. The functional state of interfascicular oligodendroglial cells has been characterized.

Using the Bernhard method of differential staining of ribonucleoproteins the sequence of neuronal destruction by a hyperchromic manner has been demonstrated in the focus of local destruction in the rat brain. This process is marked by a decrease of nuclear synthetic activity, inhibition of the nuclear-cytoplasmic transport, transition of the nucleus components to a metabolically inert state followed by the hydrolysis of the nuclear ribonucleoprotein particles, and destruction of cytoplasmic mitochondria. The processes of neuronal destruction by a hyperchromic manner are culminated in neuronophagia on the part of the oligodendroglia.
