Background: Patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma have a 10 year survival rate of more than 95%. However, the existence of spinal metastases significantly reduces overall survival. In this study, we review the epidemiology and outcomes of patients with thyroid malignancies with spinal metastases.

Influence of passive arm-support exoskeleton on static postural balance in load-holding tasks: effects of supportive force, weight and load location.

This study systematically investigated the influence of a passive arm-support exoskeleton (ASE) on static postural balance in load-holding tasks under different weight conditions and load locations, and the relationship between such influence and the exoskeleton's supportive force profile. Using a 3 (exoskeleton interventions) ×3 (weight conditions) ×3 (load locations) within-subjects design, the research found that wearing ASE with supportive force significantly reduced postural sway by 17.84% and 15.

Building blocks for better biorepositories in Africa.

Background: Biorepositories archive and distribute well-characterized biospecimens for research to support the development of medical diagnostics and therapeutics. Knowledge of biobanking and associated practices is incomplete in low- and middle-income countries where disease burden is disproportionately high. In 2011, the African Society of Human Genetics (AfSHG), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Wellcome Trust founded the Human Heredity and Health in Africa (H3Africa) consortium to promote genomic research in Africa and established a network of three biorepositories regionally located in East, West, and Southern Africa to support biomedical research.

Spinal Arachnoid Cyst Analysis of Surgical Experience in a Single Tertiary Care Centre and Review of Literature.

Objective: To study patients with spinal arachnoid cysts, who underwent cyst excision with dural defect repair or marsupialization, and their outcomes.

Methods: The retrospective analysis involved reviewing the records of 38 patients who underwent surgical treatment for spinal arachnoid cysts in the Department of Neurosurgery at Christian Medical College, Vellore, between August 2004 and December 2022. The study examined the demographics, clinical presentation, imaging, surgical intervention, and outcomes of these patients.
