Purpose: The Healthy Hearts pilot study evaluated the effect of an eHealth motivational interviewing-framed intervention on cardiomyopathy screening-related knowledge, health beliefs, intrinsic motivation, and behavioral action steps among adult survivors of childhood cancer.

Methods: We consented N = 73 survivors to participate in a single-arm pilot study. Participants completed an online baseline survey (n = 68) assessing knowledge, health beliefs, and intrinsic motivation related to cancer therapy-induced cardiomyopathy and screening echocardiograms.

Glycoconjugates forming from the conjugation of carbohydrates to other biomolecules, such as proteins, lipids, or other carbohydrates, are essential components of mammalian cells and are involved in numerous biological processes. Due to the capability of sugars to form multiple hydrogen bonds, many synthetic glycoconjugates are desirable biocompatible platforms for imaging, diagnostics, drugs, and supramolecular self-assemblies. Because large brains are energetically expensive, they are associated with metabolic traits that facilitate energy availability across vertebrates. However, the biological underpinnings driving these traits are not known. Given its role in regulating host metabolism in disease studies, we hypothesized that the gut microbiome contributes to variation in normal cross-vertebrate species differences in metabolism, including those associated with the brain's energetic requirements.
