Background: In 2020, a mandatory, nationwide 1-day bronchoscopy simulation-based training (SBT) course was implemented for novice pulmonology residents in the Netherlands. This pretest-posttest study was the first to evaluate the effectiveness of such a nationwide course in improving residents' simulated basic bronchoscopy skills.
Methods: After passing a theoretical test, residents followed a 1-day SBT course, available in 7 centers, where they practiced their bronchoscopy skills step-by-step on a virtual reality simulator under pulmonologist supervision.
: As the first sentinel lymph nodes (SLN) in lung cancer are most likely to harbor metastasis, their non-invasive identification could have a significant role in future treatments. We investigated the feasibility of adding an SLN procedure to a diagnostic navigation bronchoscopy. : Thirty-one patients were included for injection of Tc-nanocolloid and an iodinated contrast agent intra-/peritumorally and assessment of tracer dissipation via SPECT and CBCT imaging.

Original studies, systematic reviews with meta-analyses, randomized controlled trials, and case reports published between January 2009 and November 2023 were included. Four authors independently conducted the search to minimize bias, removed duplicates, and selected and evaluated the studies.

This approach is characterized by its high diagnostic accuracy and low complication risk. Current pilot trials are exploring the application of localized therapies using this innovative approach.
